The procedure

What’s Involved

At your consultation we carefully assess the skin, muscle and fat around your eyes to design a treatment plan suited to you. This may involve upper eyelid surgery, lower eyelid surgery, or a combination of both.

Upper eyelid surgery uses a discreet incision within the natural crease of the lid to remove excess skin and, where needed, a small amount of fat. Lower eyelid surgery addresses puffiness and loose skin through an incision placed close to the lash line.

Blepharoplasty offers long-lasting results and can rejuvenate the upper face by tightening the skin around the eyes and softening a tired appearance.

Where appropriate, your surgeon may suggest additional refinements such as fat repositioning to the tear trough to restore lost volume and smooth the transition to the cheek.

    Key Considerations

    Treatment Duration

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, usually takes between 1 and 2 hours depending on whether the upper lids, lower lids, or both are treated. The results are long lasting, though the natural ageing process continues, so gentle changes around the eyes may gradually reappear over several years.

    Type Of Anaesthesia

Eyelid surgery can be performed under local anaesthesia with sedation or under general anaesthesia, whichever is most appropriate for you following your consultation in Wakefield. You may be asked to pause certain medications two weeks beforehand, and if general anaesthesia is used you will typically need to fast from the night before.

    Aftercare Requirements

On discharge we will provide an eye ointment to apply as instructed, and you should keep the area dry for around 48 hours. Any minor discomfort can be managed with simple over-the-counter pain relief. We use dissolvable stitches and monitor your healing through scheduled follow-up appointments.

    Back To Work (Recovery)

Swelling and bruising usually settle over 1 to 2 weeks, and most patients feel ready to return to work within around 5 to 7 days, with full recovery typically taking 2 to 3 weeks. Avoid driving for a few days and refrain from strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for up to two weeks while you recover.

    Treatment Cost

The cost of your treatment may depend on a number of factors. The below is a guide to pricing, and may be subject to change.

    Starts at £4000
