What’s Involved
Although this procedure is surgical it is considered to be less invasive than other forms of eye surgery. Powerful light beams are delivered to the clear surface on the front of the eye, known as the cornea. A flap is created whereby the laser can then reshape the lens so that light entering the eye will bend correctly when focusing on the retina.
Laser eye surgery can greatly improve clarity of vision, and may mean that there is no need to continue wearing glasses (although there is no guarantee). This procedure is of particular benefit to those who have a high prescription, and results can last for up to 10 years.
