What is ultrasonic rhinoplasty?
About the treatment

What is ultrasonic rhinoplasty?

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty, also known as piezo rhinoplasty, is a nose reshaping technique that uses specialist instruments vibrating at ultrasonic frequency to sculpt the nasal bones. Rather than relying on traditional chisels and rasps, the surgeon can shape bone in small, controlled increments.

As with any rhinoplasty, the aim is a natural, balanced result that suits your face — refining a hump, the bridge or the overall profile, and correcting structural problems that affect breathing where needed.

  • checkPrecise, controlled reshaping of the nasal bones
  • checkA plan tailored to your facial features
  • checkBreathing concerns assessed and treated where needed
  • checkPerformed at Leeds Private Hospital

Whether ultrasonic rhinoplasty is right for you is decided at consultation, after a full assessment of your nose, breathing and goals.

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty, also known as piezo rhinoplasty, uses specialist instruments that vibrate at ultrasonic frequency to reshape the nasal bones, instead of traditional chisels and rasps. It is used to refine the shape of the nose, such as a hump on the bridge or the overall profile.

Suitability depends on your nasal anatomy, breathing, skin and goals. Your surgeon will assess this at consultation and explain whether an ultrasonic technique is appropriate for you.

Swelling and bruising are normal in the early stages. Most patients take around two weeks off work, and the nose continues to settle over several months as the swelling resolves. Your recovery plan and follow-up appointments will be explained before surgery.

Where breathing problems are caused by structural issues such as a deviated septum, these can often be addressed at the same time (septorhinoplasty). This is assessed at your consultation.
